Apple has released iOS 17.5, which should already be available to download and install for everyone with a supported iPhone. This version brings with it cross-platform support for unwanted tracker detection.

This has been developed in cooperation with Google, and means Apple’s Find My and Google’s new Find My Device networks will work together to stifle unwanted tracking and stalking attempts, by alerting you if a tracker that isn’t yours seems to be moving with you. These notifications will work regardless of what OS the device is paired with.

It’s been a long time coming for sure, but it’s finally here. Also here is the ability for people in the EU to download apps directly from websites, circumventing the App Store (or any other third party app store) entirely like it’s Windows or Android.

Apple News gets an Offline mode for News+, letting you access the Today feed and News+ tab even when you don’t have a connection, and on the topic of News+, it gets a new game too, as well as stats and streaks for players in Puzzles.
