SNL Parodies Lauren Bacall’s High Point Coffee Commercials

It may have taken roughly 40 years, but Lauren Bacall’s iconic High Point Coffee commercials have finally made it to Saturday Night Live — sort of. Rather than Bacall, the sultry-voiced star shooting this commercial is Dawn Farraway (a name that sounds kind of like Bowen Yang’s Instagram handle). As Farraway, Maya Rudolph can’t stop drinking the coffee, despite never having tried it before, “My doctors said do not.” And it seems like despite her reputation for being “difficult,” she’s a total pro, until cameras start rolling. Mid-take she asks the camera operator to leave for being in her line of sight, immediately forgets her lines, and then, on account of all the coffee she’s been drinking, farts. “I don’t know who let frogs in here, but they’re very loud and they’re ruining my take,” she demands.
