MTA releases Ice Spice MetroCards to celebrate Bronx rapper’s debut album

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has released a limited-edition MetroCard featuring rapper, and Bronx-native, Ice Spice to celebrate her debut album “Y2K.” In collaboration with Capital Records, the MTA has loaded MetroCard machines at four select stations in the Bronx and Manhattan with 50,000 limited edition cards featuring the “Munch” artist.

Starting Monday, the MetroCards will be available at select vending machines at these stations:

• Fordham Road (4 line)
• Fordham Road (B and D lines)
• 34th Street-Penn Station (A, C, and E lines)
• Times Square-42nd Street (N, Q, R, W, S, 1, 2, 3, and 7 lines)

While the album has no official release date, it is expected to come out this year.

In November, the MTA released limited-edition KISS MetroCards in honor of the iconic New York City-native rock band’s final shows at Madison Square Garden. The MTA loaded MetroCard machines at two Manhattan subway stations with 50,000 limited-edition cards.

The release of limited-edition MetroCards encourages New Yorkers to purchase a physical card at a time when the system is adopting tap-and-go OMNY technology.

As the OMNY system continues its full rollout, which is expected to replace the MetroCard, these special Ice Spice cards could be one of the last limited-edition MetroCard releases.
