Brooklyn Fare opens at One Manhattan Square

Over a decade after the longstanding Pathmark store closed, residents of Two Bridges this week celebrated the opening of a new grocery store in the neighborhood. Brooklyn Fare Kitchen & Market has opened at the base of luxury condominium One Manhattan Square at 227 Cherry Street. The new store measures 25,500 square feet, features an all-glass storefront and 20-foot ceilings, and offers a variety of fresh produce, prepared foods, and more, at an affordable price.

The Pathmark closed in 2012 after three decades in the neighborhood, leaving many low-income and elderly residents without a convenient option for affordable food and a pharmacy. Extell bought the site and razed it to make way for the 800-foot-tall condo tower, which launched sales in 2016. Pressure from local residents led to Extell committing to opening a new grocery store at the property.

The new Brooklyn Fare store will be the chain’s largest full-service store to date. Customers can expect fresh bread daily, a sushi counter, a coffee bar, frozen foods, and natural organic products.

“We are beyond thrilled to be opening on the Lower East Side. Not only is it our first store on the East Side of Manhattan, it’s also our largest store to date,” Moe Issa, owner & founder of Brooklyn Fare, said.

“What is even better is that we are providing a much-needed service to the residents of the Lower East Side, and that’s just awesome: to be able to bring great food and grocery items at affordable prices to the neighborhoods in which we serve. That’s what Brooklyn Fare is all about, and that’s why we do what we do.”

Established in 2009, Brooklyn Fare has become a beloved grocery store among New Yorkers. The brand is best known for Chef’s Table, a three-Michelin-starred restaurant inspired by Japanese cuisine and French technique found inside its Hudson Yards location. Brooklyn Fare also has locations in the West Village and Lincoln Square.

Residents of One Manhattan Square can take advantage of no delivery fees and just $10 delivery order minimum, as well as complimentary coffee on the first of every month. Brooklyn Fare’s catering department will also offer gourmet culinary baskets to residents, including Thanksgiving- and Fourth of July-themed baskets.

One Manhattan Square, located at the foot of the Manhattan Bridge, contains over 800 units and roughly 100,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor amenities. The tower boasts an indoor amenities suite twice the size of the White House, including four pools, a full-sized basketball court, a bowling alley, and a cinema. It also features NYC’s largest private outdoor garden.

Current availabilities at the tower start at $1,216,000 for a one-bedroom.
